Our Constitution calls our Country as 'India, that is, Bharat'.
Literally Bharata Varsha means Country of King Bharata.
Bharata Khanda means that part of Land in the Sub continent ruled by King Bharata.
And Jambudweepa means Island ( Peninsula ) containing either trees called Jambol or Bears.
It is said that Persians called the country as Hindu and Greeks as India. India is called so by the World since times immemorial for the People of India were first known by the Western world first as people who were inhabiting the Indus valley.
Whereas, The river Indus is called by Indians as Sindhu. Word Sindhu is synonymous with Samudra - Large water mass.
Whereas, we ourselves, i.e., our Ancestors, called our land as Bharatavarsha or Bharatakhanda and also Jambudweepa.
Bharata as a country was mentioned in Rig Veda also.
