Our Constitution calls our Country as 'India, that is, Bharat'. Literally #Bharatavarsha means Country of King #Bharata. #BharataKhanda means that part of Land in the Sub continent ruled by King Bharata.
And #Jambudweepa means Island ( Peninsula ) containing either trees called Jambol or Bears. But now this author found that name Jambudwipa was applied by Indians to designate the erstwhile Matsya Rajya or Satya Lok which their ancestors abandoned.
It is said that Persians called the country as Hindu and Greeks as India. India is called so by the World since times immemorial for the People of India were first known by the Western world first as people who were inhabiting the Indus valley.
Whereas, the river Indus is called by Indians as Sindhu. Word Sindhu is synonymous with Samudra - Large water mass.
Whereas, we ourselves, i.e., our Ancestors, called our land as Bharatavarsha or Bharatakhanda and also Jambudweepa.
Bharata as a country was mentioned in Rig Veda also.
