Minister lies boldly. How can Railways bring in Rs. 8.5 lakh crore in 5 years ? The statement is to mislead people and later Railways would be privatized by ordinance, I think so given the working style of the Government. Railways would be converted into a Commercial company and its several organs would become subsidiaries of the New Railway company. BJP would implement this grand sketch of the US. The new company would be privatized soon and US companies would buy the stakes in the new company. And they “ invest “ in the company to “ modernize “ the railways ! So that Indian Railways just like the lucrative Insurance sector would be handed over to the US companies technically in a perfect way. Let us look at what BJP and its outfits do to the images (= public notions ) on Nehru and Gandhi. They always denounce and denigrate Gandhi and Nehru. Why BJP do so ? BY the way BJP must be cursing Gandhi and Nehru for bringing Freedom and Democracy to India. Before British left these Right wing parties used to insist that India must concede for #DominionStatus just like Australia or Canada and India should not ask for complete freedom from the British. Till 1928 Congress also did not ask for complete freedom. However, Nehru prevailed upon Gandhi to change his stand on question of freedom. Thereby Congress started asking for “ #PurnaSwaraj “ not simply “ #swaraj “. Congress hoisted its free flag in Lahore session of AICC in 1929 and declared that Congress’ sole aim is to get full freedom for India and nothing less . Right wing parties ( Precursors of BJP ) who were nurtured by the then British did not like this. And Dream of Free India became true for several reasons. One World war then Gandhi’s Quit India call, then Bose’s INA trials, several labour strikes etc., British went out of India but their “ sishyas – disciples remained in India to undo the work of Gandhi and Nehru. Now, after 67 years this Right wing seems to had resurrected and now BJP bhaarat kaa aajadi ko mitti me mila de rahaa hai.

This letter is written by me on 28.2.15 in response to a news item in TOI, "Rail Budget: Railway plans Rs 8,50,000 crore investment in 5 years". The Railway Budget 2015-16, that left passenger and some freight fares untouched, envisages an investment of Rs 8,50,000 crore over the next five years - mostly directed towards modernizing existing tracks and introducing faster trains.Times of India
